"QUEENS" Yant Art Space, Forest Hills, New York

MAY 24 - JUNE 28, 2019

OPENING RECEPTION

FRIDAY, MAY 24TH, 2019 AT 6.00 - 9.00 PM

Yant Art Space is proud to announce our first group exhibition of 5 Thai artists, organized by Sirikul Pattachote (SFA PROJECTS).

Artists : Kamonchanok Phon-ngam, Nutthawut Siridejchai, Pavida Rujatikumporn, Sarasin Chatvichitkul, and Zac Peradon

Queens is a very diverse borough where there are people from all over the world representing many different cultures and personalities. There are 138 different languages spoken in Queens. While living in Queens you can’t help but notice how all

these cultures intermingle and people from one culture try out new traditions from another. The Lonely Planet stated that “nowhere is the image of New York as the global melting pot truer than Queens.”

This exhibition explores the individual experience of immigrant artists living and working in Queens.

Kamonchanok Phon-ngam is a Thai artist living in New York City. She earned her BFA from Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi in 2008 and completed her MFA from King Mongkut’s Insititute of Technology Ladkrabang in 2013 in Bangkok,Thailand.

Her comprehensive approach to artwork utilizes both mixed-media and fabric and examines existence between both eastern and western cultures. Her creates her masterpieces with the combination of traditional drawing and collage of indigenous materials. In order to create the concepts, styles, and the unique artwork, interaction of color, shape, and from in the natural world gives her inclusive viewpoint on the arts favoring and draws upon these elememt in the environment as a whole.

Her artworks has shown at National Art Museum of China, Beppu Art Museum Oita (Japan), numerous art exhibitions in Thailand and throughout Asia. She most recently exhibited in New York at DAVID&SCHWEITZER Contemporary (2018) and SFA Projects (2019).

Sarasin Chatwichitkoon is a visual artist who draws upon traditions of time-honored craftsmanship, and experimentation of contemporary design methods to create paintings and sculptural work spanning the spectrum of fine and decorative arts.

In his studio practice, he immerses himself in a detail-oriented method in order to achieve the goals of his unique aesthetic found in the state of an uninterrupted mind. The meticulous method presents a Buddhist philosophy in artistic form.

In his recent work, his passion for sculptural arts has led to the creation of playful art forms through the precise nature of his imagination and his finesse.

Pavida Rujatikumporn grew up in a family that surrounded her with art and music. Pavida enrolled at the Art Student League of New York .

Moving from representational painting, the recent abstraction of her artwork present texture, stoke, simplicity of line, geometric form, color, monochrome and contrasts. Her objective is to reveal the voice of the subconscious through imagery. Each painting reveals transient nature of the world around us in everyday life. Through her designs she hope to create harmony from the conflicts and contradiction of the world all around us. Because she both paints and composes music, each of her paintings relate to a music perception. Each painting has sound, each composition has color within. In her own words "Art and Music are alike, we can see with our ears and hear with our eyes, that's all there is to it!”

Nutthawut Siridejchai is a Thai Typewriter/ Graphic artist based in New York. Specializing in Typewriter art. My works are typewritten art use alphabets into words, words into forms by using those forms to telling the story to others. Another medium that combined my typewriter art into is intaglio printmaking. I created my printmaking works as a bridge between image and word by using

chine-colle technique. My works have been exhibited and workshops such as at Sugar Hill Children’s Museum of Art & Storytelling and Plaxall Gallery.

Zac Peradon was born in Bangkok, Thailand. A former graphic designer and illustrator in Bangkok, Peradon now studies and makes art in New York.

Peradon began his art career with a background in photography, making short films, and jewelry and T-shirt design. After graduation, Peradon worked as a graphic designer and design director at DUCTSTORE The Design Guru and Yaak TV under RS Promotion. His work encompasses many media such as TV, print, magazines, photographs, packaging. He was also an illustrator for Dichan Magazine along with his full-time job for more than eight years.

Peradon decided to leave for New York in 2011 to study and commit himself to making art in his own way. The work of Peradon often uses mixed media techniques to communicate through words and thought of the moment on different materials.
